Acision migrates BASE Company's Multimedia Messaging Infrastructure to the Cloud

Belgian operator first to deploy Acision’s state-of-the-art cloud hosted MMS solution with immediate benefits across costs, internal processes and improved service levels

Reading, UK – 15th April 2014: Acision, a global mobile services leader, today announced that BASE Company (a limited liability company under Belgian law, with its registered office at 1200 Brussels, rue Neerveld 105, Company No 0462 925 669 and formerly known as KPN Group Belgium) and its multiple MVNOs, have successfully migrated their multimedia messaging (MMSC) infrastructure to Acision’s hosted cloud solution. The solution provides BASE Company with defined service levels and flexible capacity for growth, while also giving the ability to launch new mobile services in the future from the same cloud connection.

As a fully owned subsidiary of KPN N.V., BASE Company is continuously investing in its network to keep pace with the rapid increase in data traffic and the demands of new technology.  To address the evolving network environment, Acision worked closely with BASE Company to establish a secure cloud environment for multimedia messaging, including an HTTP gateway, which integrates with four different prepaid solutions, as well as perform reporting and transcoding. The service is now fully managed and operated through Acision’s cloud back-office/NOC team in Brno, who are tasked with 24/7 monitoring and maintenance of the system with full lifecycle management.

Glen Murray, SVP and GM for Europe, Russia and Middle East, at Acision, added: “Multimedia Messaging is one of the most successful non-voice mobile service worldwide, and Informa research predicts that over 387 billion MMS events will be sent in 2016, representing about 1.7% of global messaging traffic. With the evolution of messaging services and the growing requirement by mobile users for richer services, where they can share more content, such as pictures, audio and videos, the time is ripe for operators to address these needs with new, innovative services. The usage rise in picture messages is evidence of this, and our own research recently showed that 51% of UK and 58% of US mobile users currently utilise MMS services, around half of them using it daily as they have a desire to continue to share content, whether they have internet access or not, due to the social media and content sharing age we now live in.
